RogerVoice - a phone call app for the deaf

Olivier Jeannel 于 2016-01-13 08:27 分享

About the solution

This smartphone app transcribes phone conversations from speech to text. It's automatic and private, using voice recognition (no interpreters needed).
You can adjust text size and volume, connect your bluetooth headset, and change languages. We cover English, Spanish, French, and a dozen other languages.
The app also allows persons with speech impediments to type a response, which gets vocalised across to the hearing person.
This is a subscription-based service: the amount depends on the minutes per month that you call.

关于发明者

I'm profoundly deaf in both ears since childhood. I moved from Los Angeles to Paris during my student years, and eventually settled there. While in France, I started working on an application to enable deaf and hard-of-hearing persons to make phone calls. RogerVoice lowers the barrier to making phone calls, using automatic voice recognition software available at very low cost and in multiple languages. A Kickstarter crowdfund campaign in 2014 allowed me to raise 35 000 dollars to pay for app development. There are now several thousand people using RogerVoice today.
