About the solution
By the age of 16, I was receiving between 60-80 injections in the hairless areas, on my scalp, at each appointment.
When I was 20, I was in a car accident that shocked my system even more, and within one month I was rendered completely hairless. I was a junior in college and wasn’t sure how to cope with my new disorder. My areata had turned into full blown alopecia universalis, total loss of hair over my entire body, which affected less than 200,000 people in the U.S. back in 1986. Today, the numbers of individuals with universalis has jumped to over 40 million people. Doesn’t it make you wonder what is in the water that we are drinking to cause this?
I decided to go back to school to obtain my Master’s degree and PhD work in Psychology, to better help people that were like myself. Alopecia can really be taxing on a person’s psyche. The world is designed to market towards beauty, and just about every other ad you see on TV, read in a magazine or see a billboard for has to do with mascara, hair products or items to plump your brows. Living in a superficial world, is difficult for many men and women with alopecia. The only place where showing beautiful hair styles is readily accepted is on wig websites, which cater towards people with hair loss issues. These venues far surpass the old way of walking into a “old ladies wig shop” to try on outdated wig fashions and feeling like less than a woman, during this challenge. Wigs.com offers educational videos, classy photos of wig styles, colors and plethora of information to make any first time wig buyer feel more comfortable.
“Losing my hair helped me find who I am”. I was able to be featured on countless TV shows, like Lifetime TV’s Health corner, with my story on alopecia, and was a top finalist on ABC’S American Inventor TV show, as the award winning inventor of the patented, No Sweat® liners by Headline It!®. After you pick out your “new hair”, if you are looking for a little extra comfort under your wigs, hats or scarves, as I always was doing, please try our No Sweat® liners by Headline It!®. Our liners are made from a very soft, high tech ‘wick wear’ material, designed to block the pokey, itchy little hairs from irritating your scalp. They help regulate your core body temperature, through hot flashes and cold moments. The liners pull the sweat away from your head and filter out the oils, salts and odors, trapping them in the liner, not your wig or headwear items. This really saves you time, from not having to wash the wigs, hats, scarves, more often, but also saves you money, from not having the replace your wigs and headwear items, as often. I can’t wear a wig without them and they make my scarves look more like a headwear item and stop them from riding up my head. The non-slip material under the logo helps keep a wig from shifting on the head, as well. They are truly a dream come true for anyone who wears a helmet, hat, wig, scarf or headwear item.
