Baby safe- Safe Sleep baby car seat developed by a woried mother

Shared by Carolina Piedade on 2022-04-30 21:49

About the solution

Babies’ heads often slump forward when they fall asleep in a car seat, and since their neck muscles are not fully developed, this means that they cannot return to their original position. This abnormal head position can lead to seizures in babies under the age of about six months, as it can interrupt the flow of oxygen. Medical research suggests that even a 40-degree angle can cause breathing issues. However, most car seat manufacturers make car seats with at least a 45-degree angle.

As a police officer, Lisa was acutely aware of these dangers, but was only when her daughter's head flopped forward during multiple car rides, that she began to be increasingly worried about this situation. This meant that every time she saw this happen, she would recline her seat while driving, which wasn't either practical or safe for both mom and baby. This is when she thought that there ought to be a more efficient way to prevent infant head tilting and its consequences.

She began by searching online but didn't discover any solutions for her problem, which prepared her to make her own, and this is how Baby safe came to fruition!

This new car seat concept allows for :
1. The seat is to be controlled simply and quickly from the driver’s seat, which ensures full control of the vehicle at all times.
2. It is the first car seat of its kind to address the problem of the ‘Head flopped forward’ position. With an increased risk of airway restriction and possible neck injuries to a child left in this position, it is quickly and simply resolved at the touch of a button.
3. The manual rotation feature reduces awkward positioning for placing a child in the seat, preventing back problems for parents as the child grows older.
