About the solution
As a type I diabetic, Peter opted for a CGM (Freestyle Libre) sensor, located on the back of the upper arm, which tracked his glucose levels day and night. This device would become loose every time he was swimming, doing yoga and some times while doing daily activities, which as very energetic person meant that he was always worried about his sensor.
With this in mind, Peter began to think, and he developed a patch that gave maximum protection to his sensor, allowing complete coverage of the device, meaning that his CGM sensor was always protected, which gave him more confidence that his device was staying stuck on his skin. As such "Not just a patch" was born!
As the variety of sensors grew, the patches needed to accompany it, and as such, Peter developed patches for other devices, such as Dexcom, MiaoMiao, Medtronic & omnipod.
The "key" of this solution is that the middle backing section of the "Not just a Patch" patch doesn’t stick to the actual sensor (only to the skin), allowing the user to change the patch as often as he likes, without pulling off the actual sensor. This patch has additional features that allow it to be perfect for every lifestyle and and every situation, as it is made with medical quality hypoallergenic adhesive (No skin irritation), it has a wave pattern form (that allows skin adhesion and respiration), it is water-resistance (which means no more worries when swimming) and is made up of 96% cotton and 4% spandex (allowing elasticity like skin and muscle).
This solution, not only tackles an important aspect about the functionality of the device but also allows for self-expression, letting the user express himself by choosing bright colours for his patches and thus making a statement!
It's also very important to know that "Not just a patch" donates 10% of profits to diabetes related charities, as they believe that "we needed more than just a better patch design, we needed more purpose in founding this business".
