With a Marchena LightupCane VIPs are are visible in the Dark

Debby Marchena is a visually impaired person, VIP.
After a collision in 2017, Debby Marchena came up with the light emitting white cane as a solution for her visibility, which now carries her name: the Marchena LightupCane.

It is a white cane that can be lit up completely. From now on VIPs can take to the streets more safely in the dark. The others see us from afar.

It has haptic and audible feedback (light starts / stops shining, battery (of course rechargeable with mobile phone recharger) status, sounds when it falls). It is lightweight and has a better balance (should reduce RSI in wrist, elbow and shoulders). It is designed with constant feedback of end users.

The design for a useful Lightupcane for the VIPs has been completed thanks to the help of many, all volunteers. Debby works with everyone, including fellow VIPs as test persons, Waag Society (Make Health), Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences (Design4One), and others schools and organisations.

Globally, visually impaired people want to be visible in the dark. So we want to offer the design with all CE certifications Open Source to all manufacturers.
