Man develops steps so that girl with spina bifida can get in and out or bed

Ana Duarte 于 2019-06-11 08:57 分享

About the solution

Gretchen M., Anna’s physical therapist, reached out to the charity May We Help (an organisation that develops gadgets to increase the autonomy level of disabled people). So Tom Fitzgibbons, a volunteer, took action.

Anna had a Sleep Safe bed, which is an elevated bed, in her bedroom. “She is not strong enough to get into the bed herself and requires assistance from her parents to get into the bed safely. I am wondering if it would be possible for you to build a few small steps from the floor to her bed so that she may enter/exit her bed safely and independently”, the therapist wrote.

So Tom developed wooden steps with a handrail to make it possible for her to get in and out without assistance and Anna got this solution in 2014.
