About the solution
SimpliFed is a digital health solution founded by Andrea Ippolito to enhance the support network for new parents. The platform offers tele-lactation and nutrition support to assist parents from the comfort of their own homes, with guidance provided by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants.
Andrea's journey to creating SimpliFed was not linear. She started her career as a scientist working on cardiovascular medical devices and later moved to MIT to learn about healthcare systems. She co-founded a health IT company that used predictive algorithms to prevent no-shows at medical practices, which was eventually sold to Athenahealth.
The conception of SimpliFed came after the birth of Andrea's first child. She recognized that maternal, newborn, and child health systems had been drastically overlooked, underfunded, and under-innovated for decades. The experience of becoming a mother exposed her to the complexities and gaps within this system, particularly in the area of lactation and nutrition support.
SimpliFed aims to normalize breastfeeding and the use of infant formula, understanding that 83% of moms utilize both. The company's mission is to increase access to lactation support and nutrition support for new parents, while advocating for further support for diverse innovators in America, paid parental leave, and increased awareness about maternal health issues that are often ignored.
In a nutshell, SimpliFed embodies Andrea's commitment to pushing the field forward and contributing to an ecosystem that better supports moms and babies.
