About the solution
Luciana Urruty got inspired when she saw HealthLine's contest video in early 2011. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 15. She never had problems with injections, however, carrying the pens is annoying, sometimes she goes out carrying nothing at all but she has to take the pen with her.
She started trying to find the solution to this particular problem which at the same time could be her project to participate in HealthLine's contest. That's when she came out with BLOB, a small portable device that discreetly delivers insulin. About the design, she started testing with plasticine, tried many diferent shapes to see which was the best shape to minimize the injection gesture and looking cool at the same time.
"I feel that BLOB is a friendly appliance. I like its ability to integrate into your life, to help you in an efficient way and at the same time be a sympathetic object." - said Luciana to Health Line.
