About the solution
Biel is a child who has low vision that cannot be corrected with regular glasses, medicine or surgery. People suffering from low vision have some vision capacity but not enough to carry on their daily living. Biel parents founded a startup in 2017 bringing experts together to help their son.
More than 7M people in Europe suffer these problems. Biel Glasses was created by a team of experts in technology, optometry and medicine that have joined to develop smart glasses that use 3D computer vision, artificial intelligence and mixed reality to improve mobility and personal autonomy of people with low vision.
Through 3D vision and AI algorithms, the glasses detect obstacles, holes, changes in the ground surface and street signs. Mixed reality is used to show people with low vision in a way that they can perceive the environment with their remaining vision.
The glasses include other features like zoon, image improvement and facilitation while reading and doing other tasks.
