Woman creates device to help sick grandfather in his shower routine

Shared by JoanaSaraiva on 2019-06-24 13:11

About the solution

Camilla Strand could see the difficulties her sick grandfather faced when trying to take a shower. At this point Camilla was studying product design, and decided to create a device to help her grandfather and other elderly people as well as disabled people gain independence in their shower routine.

The solution developed is called AbleOn and is a modular shower system that helps elders take a shower. It is self-operating and increases safety. It can be easily installed in the bathroom and can be adjusted to each patient specific needs. AbleOn follows the patient from getting undressed and getting in to the shower, to taking the shower and out again, drying and dressing, thus contributing to increased independence, and dignity.
