About the solution
Aditya Karra has had asthma since childhood, and since then, he has experienced the struggles of needing his inhaler, and not having it available.
Although the frequent cough and the shortness of breath are very common symptoms, when this disease decompensates, the inhaler becomes the lifeline needed to stop it from becoming an event of respiratory failure, and not having it may impact severely the outcome of this disease.
Even though this medical device is so very needed, sometimes life becomes so chaotic that you forget your inhaler at home, or lose the casing somewhere, when switching the canister. This is why Aditya developed Cair! He developed this device to mimic the asthma inhaler by simplifying the casing mechanism, keeping it as simple as possible such that it is easily replicable and accessible to everyone.
“Cair” is for anybody fighting Asthma, a caregiver, family or friends of an Asthmatic patient. This device is not intended for everyday prescribed use and is not meant to be a replacement for the medicated inhaler, since it is not as efficient. It should only be used as the final resort during an emergency only when the external casing is not available.
You can make the Cair inhaler using laser-cutting machines and 3D-printing. You can find all the files and instructions here https://www.instructables.com/Cair-Asthma-Inhalers-for-Emergencies/, which is from where this solution was adapted from.
