About the solution
Alzheimer disease is a devastating neurological disease not only to the patient as to the family and friends around him/her.
After losing her grandfather to Alzheimer disease, Hailey’s grandmother was also diagnosed with Alzheimer disease when she was 4 years old. Hailey would visit her grandmother at the nursing home and started solving puzzles from Puzzles To Remember with her. As Hailey grew, her involvement with Puzzles To Remember increased. She started collecting more puzzles with her mother and delivered them to facilities. Max Wallack, the Puzzles to Remember creator, was impressed with Hailey’s work and soon after engaged her in the initiative. But Hailey wanted to do more but she struggled to find other kids who were going through the same thing as she was.
“The blog has tips and ideas based on my personal experiences with my grandmother.”, said Hailey.
So, she created the type of support group that she would have loved for herself – Kid Caregivers. Her goal is for kids around the world who help care for senior family members to have a platform to share ideas, offer tips, and get advice. She shares her experiences, to model for other kids. Kid Caregivers was launched in 2016 and already has readers from India, Africa, Greece, Germany, Israel, Russia, UK and the United States. Hailey’s goal is to let other kids know that they are not alone.
“I have a lot of plans for the future. I plan to continue working with Alzheimer's patients.”, said Hailey.
