Jessica and Steven, respectively caregivers of mother and grandfather with cancer and Parkinsons created an encouraging support app for caregivers - IANACARE

About the solution

Over 90% of the actual time spent caring for patients occurs in the home rather than in hospitals, and there are approximately 43.5 million family caregivers in the United States alone. These caregivers are the invisible backbone of our entire healthcare system. Without them, our entire healthcare system would absolutely collapse. This is why Steve and Kim are deeply dedicated to building IANACARE, a support and navigation platform for family caregivers. Their mission is to encourage, empower, and equip family caregivers as they navigate care at home.
No one plans on becoming a caregiver, but we all have social circles in our lives that act as our first responders, regardless of the size of the responsibility. The problem is that these caregivers often don't know what they need help with, or they fear asking for help because they don't want to be a burden. As a result, they struggle quietly to figure things out on their own, leading to deep isolation and loneliness. IANACARE is a free app that congregates, coordinates, and communicates with a personal support team of family, friends, and neighbourS. It easily coordinates day-to-day tasks such as meals, rides, rest care, child care, pet care, and house errands.
