About the solution
At age 37, Kristy was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), a group of disorders that affect the connective tissue in the body. This means that people who suffer from it can have problems with the skin, bones, blood vessels and other organs.
Since EDS is a chronic disease, there were many things to take care of, such as paperwork, doctor appointments and medical data. This made Kristy feel overwhelmed. Apart from her own condition, one of her sons suffers from cerebral palsy, which is also a chronic disease and can also be difficult to manage.
So, she decided to invent a solution. ‘I knew there had to be a better way, so I set out to create an app to help me manage my health care so that I could be there for my family’, she said.
She created a healthcare app called Chronically Simple. It allows patients with chronic illnesses to keep and track their medical records, diagnostic images, test results and doctor appointments. Furthermore, there is the possibility of adding reminders for appointments and linking healthcare-related details to them, such as prescriptions.
Another feature of the app is the trackers for expenses like medication, which can be used for tax purposes.
Chronically Simple offers a user-friendly interface and empowers the chronic patients by helping them easily take control of all the aspects related to their illness.
She became an entrepreneur in 2017 by creating her own company Chronically Simple, which has since been acquired by Innomar Strategies, a Canadian company.
Chronically Simple can be accessed on the website chronicallysimple.com, and the app can be downloaded for free both on the App Store and Google Play.
