About the solution
Even after being diagnosed with diabetes type 1, Frans kept being very activate and doing sports. But after talking with other diabetics, he realized that a lot of them didn’t do sports because they were afraid of running into hypoglycemia. This made him figure that people were not well informed, and they weren’t managing their condition in the best way.
First, in 1997, he founded his own company, which involved publishing material (magazines, scientific books) for patients and health professionals.
Once the iPad was launched, Frans updated his services. So he decided to create Diabelle, in 2013, an app that consists of a social media community-advocacy platform for people with diabetes.
“This new App brings you the latest news, blogs from all over the world, the best background articles and worldwide tweet chats on diabetes.
Maya Angelou’s line “when you know better, you do better”, is definitely something I am living by. Everyday I am putting all my energy in making information on how to deal with diabetes in real life, so that you can do better”, the inventor explained.
The app is free and can be download on the app store.
